Served at BFPO four & thruppence from Oct 80 til 83. I was stuck in the QRA/SSA just praying the Russians would actually turn up! Other than that my memories have faded somewhat due to the obscene quantities of Heineken and Grolsh that happen chanced through my system! A great tour apart from the hierarchy whose sole aim in life was to stop you consuming the aforementioned pop!

I served at the Station Armoury and No 1 Sqdn RAF Regiment at RAF Laarbruck from Aug 1978 - Aug 1981.I worked in the Pylon Bay and on the 30mm Aden Cannon line that were associated with No 2 Sqdn Jaguars, also serving on XV and 16 Sqn's on exercises and the 1980 Redflag exercise in Navada. I had a great time there both on the base and the surrounding district. My wife, Shirl, and I lived in a flat in Weeze near the swimming pool. We now live in New Zealand |

I served at RAF LAARBRUCH BFPO43 from JAN 1957
until JUN 1959During my tour I worked in ASF and Station Flight before being posted to 68 Squadron (Meteor NF11) which in JAN 1959 became 5 Squadron During my time with 68 Squadron we went to RAF Sylt in NOV 1958 for Air Firing an enjoyable but cold break I have pasted in a link below which will take you to a slide show I set up some time ago as part of another project. The slide show loops back to the first slide when the final one has completed its timed display. So top up the glass take a seat and you can watch the show for ever if you wish. http://www.50yearson.smartemail.co. uk/2ndtaf1.htm Phil Kelly ******** The following picture has been added to this guestbook entry: Bild |

I visited the museum on saturnday 22th of may 2010, with my father and the next day with my wife and son. From 1972 til 1975 my father Jan Verhesen was a member of the Two Rivers Gliding Club, I Thijs, often came with him to the gliding club. I often think back to those times. It is a long time ago that we were at Laarbruch, it was a strange feeling. I also visited the museum, Its verry nice, specialy the cockpit from the Buccaneer. Groetjes Thijs Verhesen
