Geschätzte Freunde der Blechbläsermusik!In England werden jedes Jahr von der renommierten Brass-Website „4barsrest“ Preise in verschiedenen Kategorien mittels Voting vergeben. Bereits 2007 konnte die Brassband OÖ in den Kategorien „Player of the Year“ (Hans Gansch) und „Contest Performance of the Year“ (Titan’s Progress von Hermann Pallhuber) gewinnen, Hannes Buchegger wurde in der Wertung „Conductor of the Year“ großartiger Zweiter. Im heurigen Jahr sind wir in 2 Kategorien vorgeschlagen, Hannes Buchegger wiederum in der Wertung der Dirigenten und die Brassband abermals in der Wertung mit dem besten Wettbewerbsauftritt (diesmal mit Dreams von Bertrand Moren) – obwohl wir beim Wettbewerb in Stavanger von der Jury regelrecht abgestraft wurden… Auch Sound Inn Brass mit Steven Mead und Hans Gansch ist in der Wertung „CD/DVD of the Year“ vorgeschlagen und der in Österreich sehr bekannte Euphoniumsolist Steven Mead steht in der Kategorie „Player of the Year“ zur Wahl. Ich bitte euch / sie uns in diesen 4 Kategorien die Stimme zu geben, jeder kann nur 1x die Stimme abgeben, bis 23.Dezember 2008, 13.00 Uhr ist dies möglich. Every time you see the man in action you witness a true world class musician at work. It does of course help that he has a fine band under his command at Brass Band Oberoesterreich, but it is what he gets out of them that makes him such a brilliant conductor. Once again this year we were lucky to see him in action and hear what magic he can create. CATEGORY 3 - PLAYER OF THE YEAR Steven Mead The Alan Whicker of the brass world. There can be no other player who is trying to so successfully to reach out to a new audience for brass than Mr Mead. This year he has once again been on his world travels like a latter day Marco Polo, returning with musical gems and curiosities that invariably take the breath away. The appetite to explore fertile new territory is undiminished, the results this year have been quite outstanding from Austria to Spain, America to the Far East. CATEGORY 4 - CD/DVD OF THE YEAR "Strike up the band" Strike Up the Band SoundInn Brass Conductor: Steven Mead Soloists: Steven Mead, Hans Gansch SoundInn Brass, Austria, with Steven Mead as conductor and soloist with special guest Hans Gansch, cornet. Music in big band style, with red hot trumpet playing and improvisations – it all adds up to bags and bags of fun. Nothing more to b said in fact. CATEGORY 8 - CONTEST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR Brass Band Oberosterreich Conductor: Hannes Buchegger Dreams (Bertrand Moren) European Championship – Set Work Don’t take our word for it – buy the 2008 European Championship DVD or CD and listen for yourselves. This was a monumental performance. OK – it wasn’t your traditional brass band playing by any means, but it was still phenomenal stuff nonetheless, with techncial brilliance allied to sublime musicality. Even the most hardened critics in audience were standing on their feet at the end, yet the three men in the box (King, Larsen and Roost) thought it worthy of just 10th place. It was a decision that stank like a three day old herring in Stavanger fish market. |
